Eastbound I-10 to be reduced to one lane near Benson on Thursday
January 21, 2011
SAFFORD — Eastbound traffic on Interstate 10 will be reduced to a single lane at the junction of State Route 90 on Thursday, January 6 while work crews pour a concrete drainage culvert in the freeway median.
The passing lane of eastbound I-10 is scheduled to be closed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for one mile starting at the overpass at Exit 302 near Benson.
The work is part of a $27.6 million Arizona Department of Transportation project to replace the traffic interchange at I-10 and SR 90 and to straighten approximately a mile of “S” curves west of the interchange.
ADOT will continue to provide updates on this project as new information becomes available.
As always, drivers are reminded to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
