About Safford District

Texas Canyon I-10

The geographic area of the state highway system served by the Safford District ranges in elevation from 2,950 feet above sea level near Bylas on US 70, to above 9,650 feet elevation on Mt Graham or SR 366.   Average elevation of the system in this geographic area is approximately 4,200 feet elevation.

Three of the most significant wonders of the Great State of Arizona are located within the Safford District:

  1) Kartchner Caverns State Park
  2) Mt. Graham U of A Observatory
  3) Freeport McMoRan Morenci Mine

Overall, a great place to live and work.
