The Sponsor Program allows Arizona businesses to contract through a preapproved Maintenance Provider to remove litter in the busier urban areas where more frequent removal is necessary. |
These professional maintenance and marketing organizations provide litter removal service at no cost to the state by obtaining corporate sponsorships to fund their operations. In the Phoenix area, three of these companies traverse the entire valley removing the litter from the roadsides. Over 6000 bags of trash are removed every month.
The sponsors of the program are recognized by placing a 7 foot by 3 foot sign that allows them a 2 foot by 4 foot panel for their company name. The sponsorship area is for one direction in a two mile increment. Multiple areas may be sponsored by the same company as long as they are not adjacent to one another. The Permit is good for a period of one year, renewable up to three years.
Since the inception of the program in 1997, the Sponsor List has grown to over 100 companies that are committed to promoting litter removal along our highways. Of these 104, Berge Ford, McDonald's Restaurants, Midway Auto Team and Scottsdale Memorial Health Care have been with us for the entire seven years.
