John McGee currently serves as Executive Director for Planning and Policy for the Arizona Department of Transportation. As such, he is responsible for all transportation planning and Public/Private Partnership activities within the Department. He also serves as the primary liaison between the Department and the State Transportation Board, and assists the Director in various policy matters.
From May 1999 through November 2008, Mr. McGee served as ADOT’s Chief Financial Officer, where he had oversight responsibility for the financial management of the State Transportation Board’s capital and financing programs, as well as responsibility for all accounting and financial activities of the Department.
In 1988, Mr. McGee was appointed to the position of Special Assistant for Strategic Management for ADOT, where he was responsible for all budgeting, fiscal planning, risk management and bonding activities for the Department.
Prior to joining ADOT, Mr. McGee spent sixteen years serving in various financial and managerial capacities for one of Arizona’s largest development companies, Del Webb Communities. Major positions held by Mr. McGee included Vice-President and Controller, and Senior Vice-President and Assistant General Manager for Sun City West.
Mr. McGee’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Arizona State University.
He has held membership in the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) and has served on the Financial Management Subcommittee of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
