Leading Teams to Build Partnerships
(Two or Three-Day Class) Effective leaders build constructive &
collaborative working relationships among all those involved in the
joint effort or partnership. This class enables participants to
identify and develop leader competencies and the quality tools that
build these partnerships. It is designed for division, section,
project, unit, process and team leaders. This class is mandatory for
all ADOT supervisors & managers.
Course Content:
- Role of the Leader in building partnerships through teaming
- Leadership skills to support a positive partnering, team environment
- Communication Network and Link (link the team members and provide a network with their external partners)
- Successful leadership strategies, including ways to identify and involve stakeholders and establish common goals and objectives
- Issue Resolution (informational: what, how and why and when issues are resolved)
- Teaming Agreements (making and keeping them) to build the Partnership
- Process Improvement Teams (definition, function and stages)
- Quality Tools: purpose, steps and description of the flow chart; cause & effect diagram; & Pareto diagram
Teaming for Shared Accountability
- The Partnering Evaluation Program (purpose and components)
- The Partnering Evaluation Program: use as a team building tool
- Practice and feedback, using a case study scenario
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this class, participants will be able to:
- Identify the role of the Leader in building partnerships
- List effective leader strategies, including methods to identify and involve stakeholders
- Identify the skills of the leader
- Participate in a team setting as an active team leader, and use
effective communication skills/techniques in completing group exercises
and case study activities
- State the reasons for using
a process improvement model and describe the basic steps in identifying
areas of opportunity for improvement or enhancement
- Apply the quality tools (including flow chart, cause & effect diagram & Pareto diagram) to a case scenario
- Apply the problem solving tools to participant generated organization-specific issues
- Recognize Partnering Evaluation Program as a team building tool
Prerequisites:
- Partnering Experience (on-the-job; workshops, etc.)
- Knowledge of Partnering basics or attend "Introduction to Partnering" class
- Completion of "Introduction to Facilitation Skills" training or equivalent
