How to Make Partnering Work in the Field

(One-Day Class) Applying partnering principles and practices in the field is key to successful projects. This class is a one-day interactive, practical and informative program that builds relationships among the project team members. It is designed for those responsible for making partnering work in the field.

Scheduled Through The Partnering Office, Upon Request

Course Content:

  • The field partner's role in a partnering environment
  • Mechanisms for ongoing communication (i.e. tailgate meetings; pre-event meetings, safety meetings, close-out meetings etc.)
  • Using respectful communication skills that promote the project success and the team members' relationships
  • Issue Resolution Process (issue identification, resolution and action planning,
    including what to expect from an escalation; what happens during the process; etc.)
  • Measurement (the impact of partnering) and Evaluation (PEP)

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this class, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify partnering practices in the field
  2. Assess their level of communication skills, after completing Self assessment
  3. List common field issues and issue resolution strategies
  4. List opportunities to practice partnering in the field
  5. Identify the components of a proactive partnering approach (i.e. basic guidelines, behaviors and attitudes)
  6. Recognize a process, with class members, for identifying and resolving issues, to include action planning and follow-up
  7. Recognize the standardized Partnering Evaluation Program process forms
  8. Recognize the types of data generated by the Partnering Evaluation Program

  • Knowledge of partnering principles and practices
