State Route 74 passing lane construction ongoing near Lake Pleasant
Short daytime closures required through summer
December 22, 2009
PHOENIX – In addition to the many freeway and highway improvements the Arizona Department of Transportation has ongoing in the Northwest Valley, construction is also under way on State Route 74 to add three miles of passing lanes west of Lake Pleasant Marina Road.
In order to further this project’s progress, intermittent lane restrictions will be necessary starting today, December 22 through June 2010. The delays, which are required because slopes are being cut and material may block the roadway, will occur Mondays through Thursdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The closures may not occur every day and will last up to 10 minutes each.
As always, safety is a priority for ADOT and its contractors and these short restrictions will enable work to safely proceed. Driver convenience is also a top priority, and the work will be conducted as quickly as possible and the roadway will open as soon as travel is deemed safe.
Drivers should proceed with caution through the active work zone, obey speed limits and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
Current statewide highway conditions and restrictions are available by calling 5-1-1 or at www.az511.gov
