Estrella/Pebble Creek Parkway Closed at I-10 Weekdays Starting April 15
Freeway on, off ramps remain open during construction
April 14, 2008
Phoenix, Arizona: As part of the comprehensive improvements underway for Interstate 10 in the West Valley, drivers are urged to plan alternate routes beginning April 15 while the Estrella/Pebble Creek Parkway is closed underneath I-10 in Goodyear.
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) says crews will be working under the I-10 interchange at Estrella/Pebble Creek Parkway for bridge construction as a part of the ongoing I-10 widening project between Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) and Sarival Avenue.
Beginning 1 a.m. on April 15, Estrella/Pebble Creek Parkway at I-10 will be closed. During the next four weeks, work will occur starting each Monday at 1 a.m. through 4 p.m. Friday. The parkway will reopen to traffic on weekends during this focused construction effort, which is being done in collaboration with Goodyear.
Drivers are encouraged to use adjacent I-10 interchanges for freeway access. While northbound and southbound access on Estrella/Pebble Creek Parkway under I-10 will be closed, the interchange ramps will remain open.
The Estrella/Pebble Creek Parkway is the first in a series of bridges to be reconstructed as part of the I-10 expansion project and 2004 voter-approved Regional Transportation Plan.
A series of I-10 improvement projects will provide additional lanes between Loop 101 and Verrado Way over the next few years. The freeway expansion includes adding new outside lanes and widening into the median to improve east and west traffic flow for West Valley commuters. The improvements will help meet future traffic demands and reduce current congestion along nearly 14 miles of the freeway.
Drivers can visit the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Web site at www.azdot.gov/ValleyFreeways for the times and locations of construction restrictions on I-10, as well as sign up for ADOT’s I-10 weekly traffic alert email and podcast.
