The Arizona Department of Transportation and the City of Yuma are working on a project to improve and widen the Avenue 3E Bridge located between Gila Ridge Road and 24th Street in Yuma.

Avenue 3E is used to reach the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Yuma Proving Grounds and the local agriculture community.

The proposed work includes widening the Avenue 3E Bridge over the railroad tracks to six lanes. The project area extends from Gila Ridge Road to just north of 24th Street.

The project includes:

• Widening the Avenue 3E bridge to six lanes
• Raised median (center divider)
• New pavement markings and signage
• New guardrail
• New pedestrian walkways
• Additional turning lanes at eastbound I-8 exit (still to be confirmed)

Construction is scheduled to begin in late July 2012 and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2013.
