Leadership Excellence at Capitol Toastmasters
The Leadership Excellence Award for Capitol Toastmasters signifies the attainment of distinguished status for three consecutive years.  This year, however, Capitol Toastmasters garnered the award not just for a distinguished club but for “Select Distinguished”.  According to the Leadership Excellence Series of programs from Toastmasters International, the success of a club is a reflection of the club’s leadership.  So the leaders of last year’s club deserves applause for having achieved leadership excellence for the year ending 2010 and continuing the now four-year legacy of this award onto the next group of leaders.

The Two Sides of Capitol Toastmasters
Capitol Toastmasters has a serious side. We are dedicated to the attainment of strong oral communications skills in areas ranging from public relations to persuasive speaking to technical speaking – these are only three of 15 areas of concentration offered in the Toastmasters Advanced Communications Series.  Strong leadership skills are honed by actually performing the task rather than just reading about it at Capitol Toastmasters in areas ranging from performing various functions to running the show as the Toastmaster at our weekly meetings.  Outside of the meetings in the Arizona Room, leadership experience is gained by being chairperson or project manager in a sense of a social event or a public relations campaign.  But Capitol Club also likes to have fun while achieving success as demonstrated by Shana and Heather – winners of the Hawaiian Outfit contest at this year’s Induction Ceremony.
