State Route 87 to Skousen Road Intersection Improvement Project

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation initiated a project in June 2024 to reconstruct State Route 87 at the Skousen Road intersection in Coolidge to improve roadway safety.

Project Elements

  • Installation of traffic signals with lighting on all four corners of the intersection;
  • Widening Skousen Road to the west to add northbound and southbound left-turn lanes;
  • Widening SR 87 west of Skousen Road to add an eastbound right-turn lane;
  • Fog coating the existing roadway within the project limits; and
  • Other miscellaneous improvements.

What to Expect

  • Temporary portable traffic control signals will be utilized during construction to move motorists through the intersection.
  • One lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during construction.
  • Construction is tentatively scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers and on the project website.

Schedule

The project is scheduled to begin construction in June 2024 and is expected to be completed in January 2025.
